One of our Fina House residents, a young mother of twins, wants to be a social worker. In a promise she wrote to her daughters, she reveals her hopes for the future:
“Times are tough and bitter, but I am optimistic; life will get better. Today we are in need, but tomorrow we will be helping those in need. I will educate myself; I am done being a victim. I refuse to put myself down. I’m climbing the stairs and nobody is going to keep me from accomplishing my goals. We are going to make it; I promise. You determine who you are and what you will become in the future and your mommy is going to make you girls proud. I know all the pain and struggle is going to be worth it. I’m climbing the stairs as fast as I can; it’s time to open the door at the top and unlock the key to a better future.”
