Rebecca A. Hall, Executive Director of the YWCA of Greater Lawrence, has been named Vice President of the YWCA USA National Coordinating Board.
The National YWCA USA is part of the World YWCA, the oldest and largest multicultural women's organization in the world. As an officer of the National Coordinating Board, Ms. Hall will serve to uphold the organization's mission of working for social and economic change for women. She will serve internal to the YWCA USA organization, as well as advocate in Washington for the rights of women, and for the protection and advancement of services for women and youth. Additionally, Ms. Hall will advocate for women and all people for social justice and human rights issues in education, poverty, health, pay equity and violence against women and children.
About Ms. Hall
Rebecca A. Hall has been has been the Executive Director at the YWCA of Greater Lawrence since 1991. In addition to her service on the National YWCA USA Board of Directors, she is professionally affiliated with the National Association of YWCA Executives; The Institute for Community Human Services; The Women's Legislative Network; and the New England Council of YWCAs. Her awards include The Executive Excellence Award, presented by the National Association of YWCA Executive Directors in 1996; the Liberty Bell Award, presented by the Lawrence Bar Association in 1999; and nominated for the Athena Award, presented by the Haverhill Chamber of Commerce in 2001. She has grown the YWCA of Greater Lawrence from an annual budget of less than $1 million in 1991 to a current budget in excess of $4.4 million. During her tenure, Ms. Hall quadrupled the size of the staff, and has intentionally hired and promoted women and men of color to management positions. She was also responsible for the planning, financing, and construction of YWCA Fina House, a $6.5 million residential building, which opened in 2005. Ms. Hall holds a Master's Degree in Education from Cambridge College.

Since 1892, the YWCA of Greater Lawrence has been a solid community presence in the Merrimack Valley and a resource for women and families. Offering programs at little or no-cost, the YWCA strives to help the under-served overcome challenges of poverty, violence, illiteracy, homelessness and inaccessibility to health services by providing women's health and housing services, affordable child care, domestic violence & sexual assault prevention programs, and safe pre and after-school enrichment programs. As an efficiently run non-profit, the YWCA of Greater Lawrence applies 88 cents out of every $1 raised to direct services for the almost 15,000 community people assisted annually. back
