$6,000 to YWCA Domestic Violence Program
The Lanam Club of Andover recently
awarded the YWCA of Greater Lawrence a $6,000 donation
to support domestic violence prevention and intervention.
The donation was raised through the efforts
of the Friends of the Lanam Club, which hosted a charitable
art auction in April to benefit the YWCA. The auction
was attended by more than 100 members and guests. Proceeds
were donated to the YWCA’s efforts to reduce domestic
violence in the Merrimack Valley and to aid women and
children who are escaping violent situations.
“The auction was a great
time for club members, guests and the public to come
together for an entertaining evening while supporting
an important cause,” said Friends of the Lanam
Club chair Kathleen Droste. “The YWCA helps women
and children in our community overcome enormous obstacles.
The Lanam Club is honored to give back to such an important
effort.”
The YWCA Domestic Violence Program
provides legal, medical and police advocacy, safety
planning, emergency response, supported transitional
housing, individual and public education. The Lanam
Club was founded in 1957 by a group of Greater Lawrence
business and community leaders who chose the Club’s
name to reflect the surrounding communities of Lawrence,
Andover, North Andover and Methuen.
